Major drawback of Anavar is that it is too costly, although available in black market but one cannot be so sure of the authenticity of it bought from there. As it is DHT and due to this hair loss and acne can occur. But hair loss only in men who have got this hair loss disease genetically transmitted. There could be high blood pressure and high cholesterol levels but only for those who are not living a healthy life style and these diseases are not transmitted genetically to the users as well. Due to the non aromatizing nature of Anavar it has taken side effects of water retention and Gynecomastia out of the equation.
The oral bioavailability of oxandrolone is 97%.  Its plasma protein binding is 94 to 97%.  The drug is metabolized primarily by the kidneys and to a lesser extent by the liver .   Oxandrolone is the only AAS that is not primarily or extensively metabolized by the liver, and this is thought to be related to its diminished hepatotoxicity relative to other AAS.   Its elimination half-life is reported as to hours but is extended to hours in the elderly.   Approximately 28% of an oral dose of oxandrolone is eliminated unchanged in the urine and 3% is excreted in the feces . 
Anavar is a derivative of DHT (Dihydrotestosterone) which causes it to be highly Anabolic and only mildly androgenic, this means Anavar is good for building strength but not muscle mass, it also means Anavar is low in side effects. Steroids that are highly Androgenic such as Dianabol or Testosterone cause more side effects. Being highly androgenic is an advantage for athletes such as powerlifters or sprinters who are looking to increase their performance without weight gain. A powerlifter who lifts in a particular weight category would want to get as strong as possible without moving up a weight class for obvious reasons.
